Lyrics from Skyward

When the Bow Hits the String

When the bow hits the string it knows just what to sing, and that's how I'll tell you of living,
The up meets the down in a never-ending sound and life's better off for the giving.

In the music we felt the separation melt, and all of the reasons for lying,
On the rhythm we rode and the love always flowed, how does it feel to be flying.

My heart and my voice they gave me the choice to sing out my insides exploding,
Life is the song, forget the right and wrong, boundaries expand walls eroding.

The world is our muse, she dares us to choose, embracing what destiny's bringing,
What will I say when the feelings die away and I find that the end is the beginning.

The past holds on deep, I find myself asleep surrendering to shadows that steal us,
The dark brings the dawn and the voices whisper on, just play it, the hand that life deals us.

When the bow hits the string it knows just what to sing and that's how I'll tell you of living,
The up meets the down in a never-ending sound and life's better off for the giving.

Douce Pluie

Douce pluie (soft rain), belle peine, mélancolie (beautiful sorrow, melancholy),
billet doux (love note), tambouriné sur les toits partout (softly drummed on every roof),

Pauvre coeur (Poor heart), vieux bateau, petit bonheur (old boat, small happiness),
blonde plage (blond beach), abandonnée, habituel naufrage (abandonned, a shipwreck as usual),

Douce amie (sweet friend), belle femme, ta mélodie, (beautiful woman, your melody),
saxo fou (crazy saxophone), éparpillé, je l'entends partout (scattered, I hear it everywhere),

Dans tes yeux (In your eyes), pleins de ciel, un oiseau bleu (full of sky, a bluebird),
sur ta bouche (on your mouth), apprivoisés, tous les mots se couchent (tamed, all words lay down).

Find Your Feet

Find your feet, feel your roots, through your toes, up your boots,
The whole of your heart is the eye to your soul,
But your soul's in your feet, so find your feet, feel your roots.

Feel the earth, touch the ground, smell the smell, hear the sound,
You've got a body and it's your home,
So climb back inside it when you start to roam.

Cry your tears til they're gone, packin up, movin on,
And when it's darkest at the tunnel's end,
Just on the other side are all your friends.

The time called now is all we've got, cause who can know tomorrow will be what we thought,
The past is a dream that carried me through and gave me all I needed for loving you,
I fell into the future and thought you were gone,
Crawled back to the present you were here all along.

Find your feet, feel your roots, mother earth sending shoots,
And we're no different than what she grows,
Soakin up all the good stuff underneath our toes.

Don't look back, don't look down, look ahead, look around,
Sing all your life and dance what you feel,
There's just one solution when you're spinnin' your wheels.

Find your feet, feel your roots, through your toes, up your boots,
The whole of your heart is the eye to your soul,
But your soul's in your feet, so find your feet, feel your roots.

Canvas of My Life

I'm working on a puzzle of a garden by Monet,
I'm wondering as I do it what the painting has to say,
I'm studying the picture on the cover of the box,
a thousand tiny pieces are supposed to interlock.

Shades of green shoot upwards, leafy branches, bushes, willow trees,
brush strokes aimed at every angle, the impression of a breeze,
flowers lean in all directions, corals, purples, rusts, and creams,
and a watery pool's reflection of Monet's rich inner dreams.

I think I found the piece I need, it's violet and yellow,
with a tinge of orangey umber reminiscent of a cello,
it snugly fits around a piece that's brown and aqua blue,
how can such different color worlds meld in a single hue.

You live so deep inside me where no one has ever gone,
the swirling of our colors like a fire's sky at dawn,
we traveled starry pathways when we left that garden green,
and when I heard your voice I found a universe unseen.

I'd like to see a photograph this garden's all a blur,
but that would be impossible cause life is not so clear,
I can't assume or judge about the others that I know,
but just accept and understand and find my path to go.

This painting I am puzzling is the canvas of my life,
I can't see beyond the pieces when I'm caught inside the strife,
but a painting is much greater than the total of its parts,
and that's the truth of you and me, and life and love and art.
